I was very excited to be able to write about my birth experiences with Linda and Beth at Spokane Midwives. I have found both Linda and Beth to be not only very competent in their field but full of understanding and sensitive to my personal needs.
The first time I met them my family and I had just moved into the Spokane area. I was in my early part of my pregnancy and began experiencing some problems. Being new to the area I didn’t even know who to call for help. Feeling afraid, I called Linda in the middle of the night and even though she didn’t know me she graciously and tenderly listened to my concerns and agreed to come to my home. When Linda and Beth arrived it was as I was afraid of – there was no heartbeat. This was probably one of the hardest times in my life. The genuine concern and care they offered was very precious to me. Before sending me off for the ultrasound they prayed with me and gave me encouragement. Since that time I have had the opportunity to have two, healthy home births under Linda and Beth’s care.
One thing I really appreciated was the hour visits. This way I felt I could cover my concerns and get needed advice as well as allowing time to get to know them and establish a trust. Their care for me was so different than just a doctor seeing a patient, it had more of a feel of a friend helping a friend. We have seven children altogether and can easily say that these birth experiences have been the most relaxed, comfortable and pleasant of any. Also, I would like to mention that prior to this my husband did not even think he was comfortable with my having a home birth and now he actually goes around talking to other apprehensive dads about how great the experience was. Since that time three other friends of ours have chosen to try out the home birth experience. They all have had similar wonderful birth experiences as ours.
Thank you Linda and Beth!
